What is League of Legends? LoL is a multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game. This video game was developed by Riot Games and was officially released on October 27, 2009. Over the years, LoL has undoubtedly been the most popular title in the MOBA genre and currently tops the list of eSports tournaments from this developer.
League of Legends can be quite technical but incredibly gratifying. This MOBA game sees teams of five players play against each other. The game starts with each team on opposing sides of a map, close to the Nexus . The winning team in any match destroys their opponent's Nexus.
During the game, each team walks through a series of towers known as turrets, placed along paths to each Nexus. Of course, the primary objective is to destroy the enemy's Nexus. However, other principal goals include destroying enemy structures such as turrets.
To fight and keep up against the enemy, players also need to keep leveling up. Leveling up calls for experience gained from killing minions and the enemy's player. Gold, obtained from killing minions, is essential for buying bonuses during the game. With Gold, players can purchase things like passive armor boosts or temporary shields.
League of Legends currently has two game modes: Classic and ARAM. To start with, the Classic game mode is largely defensive. The team employing this mode attempts to get to the opponent's Nexus through turrets and inhibitors with the aid of minions. On the other hand, the ARAM, All Random All Mid, mode bears close similarities to the classic mode, but the action tends to be limited to a single-path map.
